TEOSYAL RHA1 1mL
Teosyal RHA 1 is an injectable dermal filler consisting of non-modified and cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA). RHA stands for Resilient Hyaluronic Acid. As its name implies, Teosyal RHA 1 is manufactured using stabilized hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin. Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide present in tissues such as in cartilage and skin. When in contact with water, it swells, resulting in a filling or smoothing effect.
Apart from hyaluronic acid (15mg), it also contains phosphate buffer pH 7.3 (qsp 1mL) and lidocaine hydrochloride (3mg) for its anesthetic properties. The gel is transparent and comes in 2 prefilled 1mL syringes. In the box, you will find 2 sterile 30G needles, 2 traceability labels, and a product insert.
Teosyal RHA 1 should be stored between 2°C to 25°C, and away from direct sunlight.
The gel is manufactured by Teoxane Laboratories from streptococci bacteria through the process of bacterial fermentation. The innovative technology decreases the bacterial endotoxin and protein level, resulting in less of a risk of hypersensitivity. Moreover, no skin test is required as the hyaluronic acid is of non-animal origin.
WHAT IS IT USED FOR?
Teosyal RHA 1 is widely used by dermatologists to correct the look of wrinkles and fine lines on the face and neck. It is injected into superficial wrinkles and fine lines to recover the texture of youthful skin. Due to its formulation, this dermal filler is suitable for mobile areas of the face (e.g. forehead, nasolabial folds, crow's feet, perioral area, and cheeks). Some doctors also use it for under-eye circles.
HOW DOES THIS DERMAL FILLER WORK?
Using novel technology, Teoxane combines cross-linked hyaluronic acid with non-modified hyaluronic acid. Cross-linked hyaluronic acid is more resistant to decomposition and lasts longer within the skin compared to natural hyaluronic acid. Non-modified hyaluronic acid helps the dermal filler to mimic the properties of natural hyaluronic acid. This allows Teosyal RHA 1 to stretch and adapt to facial movement while supporting the skin. This dermal filler fills and supports the skin to diminish the appearance of wrinkles, thanks to the water-retention properties of hyaluronic acid. Over time, hyaluronic acid in the dermal filler will decompose and be absorbed into the skin, thereby hydrating the skin.
HOW TO INJECT?
Teosyal RHA 1 should be injected into the mid dermis at the site that requires correction using the enclosed needles. The volume should be altered based on the patient's needs. In general, you should administer no more than 3mL. Care must be given to avoid over-injection. After administering the filler, gently massage the skin so that it is distributed evenly and looks smooth. Massage the area. Then massage the area. Refer to your product leaflet for specific instructions. Injections must only be administered by authorized personnel.
HOW LONG DOES THIS FILLER LAST?
Effects of most dermal fillers are temporary since the ingredients will be gradually absorbed by the body. In general, cross-linked hyaluronic acid lasts longer in the body as it has been chemically modified. Teosyal RHA 1 lasts approximately 6 to 9 months, however, individual results may vary. To maintain the results, inject Teosyal RHA 1 once or twice a year.
IS THIS PRODUCT SAFE?
The safety of Teosyal RHA 1 was extensively tested in a double-blinded, randomised controlled trial. As well, a prospective clinical program involving 500 patients was also conducted in the United States and Europe to ensure its safety and efficacy.
While the product is generally safe, it should be avoided in patients who have an allergy to hyaluronic acid, lidocaine, or other ingredients in the product. This treatment should also be avoided by patients with cutaneous disorders or inflammation at the treatment site. Teosyal RHA 1 should not be used in patients who have autoimmune diseases. Due to the lack of data, the product should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Patients should stop taking high doses of anti-inflammatory drugs, including aspirin, anti-coagulants, and vitamin E, 1 week prior to the injection. Additionally, they should refrain from wearing makeup for 12 hours after injecting the dermal filler, and avoid extreme temperatures (e.g. intense cold, sauna) for the next week. Refer to the product leaflet for a complete list of contraindications.
To ensure sterility, Teosyal RHA 1 is intended for 1 use only. Any remaining unused product should be discarded.
TEOSYAL RHA 1 SIDE EFFECTS?
Despite being a naturally-occurring element, the injection of hyaluronic acid may still cause side effects. However, the reactions are usually self-limiting and reversible. Lidocaine, which is found in the product, also helps alleviate side effects such as discomfort and pain during the procedure.
COMMON SIDE EFFECTS:
- Erythema
- Discomfort at the injection site
- Swelling
SEVERE OR SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS
- Skin necrosis
- Haematoma
- Anaphylactic shock
- Discolouration
This is not an exhaustive list of the possible side effects.
WHAT IS IT MADE OF?
Teosyal RHA 1 is made of hyaluronic acid, which is able to hold a large amount of moisture. Aged skin is dehydrated because of the low level of hyaluronic acid in the dermis. The amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases with age. Due to its moisture retention properties, hyaluronic acid is deemed to be an ideal solution for aging skin.
The hyaluronic acid injectable also contains lidocaine hydrochloride, which is a local anesthetic. Lidocaine hydrochloride is able to alleviate injection-related pain and discomfort.
