Juvederm Voluma with Lidocaine is an aesthetic solution designed by Allergan and is used to restore facial volume. This highly viscous, non-pyrogenic, biocompatible gel is made of cross-linked hyaluronic acid (20mg/mL) and the mild pain-reliever lidocaine (3mg/mL). Of the Juvederm Vycross collection, this product has the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid. A single box of Juvederm Voluma with Lidocaine is packaged with 2-1mL prefilled syringes, 2 sterile 27G½” needles, a product manual, and traceability labels. Keep this sterilised item in a dry and cool environment (2–25℃).

WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Juvederm Voluma with Lidocaine has the most concentrated amount of hyaluronic acid (20mg/mL) in the Juvederm Vycross collection; hence, it is perfect for correcting deep and severe skin depressions. If patients suffer from loss of facial volume in areas like the cheeks, they will benefit greatly from this product.

HOW DOES THIS DERMAL FILLER WORK?

A good distribution of facial volume combined with well-moisturised radiant skin is the epitome of youth.

Over time, ageing can cause patients to complain of volume loss and dry sagging skin. All in all, they may appear exhausted and gaunt. Juvederm Voluma with Lidocaine helps to repair these skin issues by providing much needed volume to hollow areas. The hyaluronic acid processed using Vycross Technology is more viscous and dense. This is due to the majority presence of (90%) low molecular weight and a minority presence of (10%) high molecular weight hyaluronic acid molecules. So, the gel is highly elastic yet malleable enough to fill depressions underneath the skin. As well, this formulation allows for minimal swelling after injection and better resistance against degradation. The integration of lidocaine reduces pain during treatment. Consequently, patients will enjoy a fuller and healthier appearance thanks to a recontoured face.

HOW TO INJECT JUVEDERM VOLUMA?

During the first few discussions, prompt information regarding the patient’s medical history (e.g. current medical issues, allergies, medications and supplements taken, previous history of aesthetic procedures) and tailor the treatment plan accordingly. Prior to injecting, follow the standard precautions when administering injections. Inject Juvederm Voluma slowly into the deep dermis, subcutaneous, or upper periosteum. The injection techniques and depth vary according to the target site. Gently massage the treated areas for better delivery and integration of gel into the tissues. Only accredited doctors specialising in aesthetic treatments should perform this procedure. Injecting this dermal gel into the following areas is strictly prohibited:

Sensitive periorbital areas;

Lip region;

Forehead wrinkles;

Blood vessels;

Inflamed/infected areas (e.g. broken skin, herpes, acne, rashes);

Areas where a permanent implant has been placed.

If patients have recently undergone other aesthetic procedures (e.g. laser treatments, chemical peels), allow the skin to heal before proceeding with the Juvederm Voluma treatment.

HOW LONG DOES THIS FACIAL FILLER LAST?

The desirable effects of Juvederm Voluma with Lidocaine can last for up to 18 months, after which the gel will gradually disintegrate into the surrounding tissues. This durable performance is made possible by Vycross Technology, which produces an elastic, versatile, and highly viscous hyaluronic acid gel.

IS THIS PRODUCT SAFE?

Juvederm Voluma with Lidocaine is a very safe option due to its synthetic and non-toxic nature. The hyaluronic acid gel is created via bacterial fermentation of the Streptococci culture in a sterile laboratory environment. Hence, there is very small risk of disease transmission. Nevertheless, certain groups of people are advised not to use this skin treatment due to an inadequate safety profile status, including:

  • People with gram-positive bacteria allergy;
  • People with hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid and/or lidocaine;
  • People with a tendency to develop hypertrophic scars;
  • People with a history of anaphylactic shock;
  • Children;
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
