Stylage XL is an injectable aesthetic filler designed and manufactured by Laboratories Vivacy, a leading French pharmaceutical. This is an innovative dermal filler that raised the standard for other filler brands due to the incorporation of its skincare aspect. The 26mg/g cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel is enhanced with mannitol, which is a good antioxidant that can protect skin from further damages. This biocompatible and biodegradable gel is packaged in 2-1mL syringes and is sold together with 2 disposable 23G syringes, 2 disposable 27G syringes, some tracing labels as well as a product pamphlet. Keep this sterilised and fragile item in a clean and cool place with a temperature ranging from 2℃ to 25℃.

WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Stylage XL is designed especially for facial remodelling and volume restoration purposes. So, patients suffering from sunken eyes and temples can benefit greatly from this skin volumiser. Even patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)-related facial lipodystrophy (abnormal redistribution of facial fat) will notice pleasant improvements to their visage. Additionally, patients with severe skin sagging in the face and even the backs of the hands will respond well to this treatment.

HOW DOES THIS DERMAL FILLER WORK?

The 2 most vital cells in maintaining skin health and structure are hyaluronic acid and collagen. While collagen provides the distinct elasticity to the skin, hyaluronic acid maintains hydration and nutrition status for the cells. Together, they maintain supple and well-hydrated skin. Even skin injuries sustained can be efficiently repaired in next to no time to when the skin cells were performing at their prime. Unfortunately, the performance cannot be sustained for a long time as ageing gets in the way.

The natural ageing process coupled with skin-harming elements like an unhealthy diet, smoking, excessive sun exposure and untreated medical conditions can weaken skin structure. Over time, the underlying skin structure collapses causing wrinkles and lines to develop. For some people, ageing is accompanied by unintended weight loss. When fat pads and muscles are lost in the face region, unattractive skin hollows appear. Even certain conditions like HIV-related facial lipodystrophy cause sunken cheeks and temples as a byproduct of antiretroviral therapy. All in all, the face looks worn out, which affects your patients’ overall well-being.

Stylage XL aims to volumise and restore the face by filling up the gaps underneath the skin with the filler material. The hyaluronic acid is treated with InterPenetrated Cross-Linked Networks IPN-Like Technology for a smooth and pliable filler gel. The integration of mannitol allows the body to withstand the gel longer by deftly removing any harmful free radicals. In addition to that, the removal of free radicals also ensured that the treated areas did not swell up too drastically. Saggy skin and sunken areas were lifted and plumped up with very mild side effects.

HOW TO INJECT?

After systematic cleaning and sanitation of proposed areas, inject Stylage XL via deep dermis or subcutaneous injections following aseptic techniques. Use the provided needles for best outcomes. After treatment, patients should keep the injected areas clean and well-protected from extreme temperatures (very cold places, saunas, direct sunlight). They should also wear sunscreen to protect the gel and the skin from ultraviolet (UV) damages. Do not inject this filler into blood vessels as that can result in life-threatening complications like embolism and stroke. Also avoid injecting the filler on inflamed and/or infected skin (e.g. acne, open wounds, herpes). Since precision is necessary for this procedure, only certified doctors with extensive training and experience in dermal filler injection techniques can attempt to use this medical device.

HOW LONG DOES THIS FILLER LAST?

All Stylage dermal fillers are processed using the patented IPN-Like Technology for that distinctive flexible and smooth gel. The technology also reduces the need for the binding agent 1,4-Butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE). So, the injected gel does not get degraded quickly. In fact, it can last up to a year or more. But this result varies by individuals and depends on their skin health, age, the amount of gel used and the skills of the physicians.

IS THIS PRODUCT SAFE?

Stylage products are famed for their utmost safety and quality. The hyaluronic acid is obtained via controlled bacteria fermentation in a certified hygienic room. The manufacturing processes are constantly monitored, and the staff undergo intensive training before handling these items. Not only that, hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the human body. The combination of excellent production quality and biocompatibility reduce the risks of unpleasant reactions. That being said, the follow people may still be contraindicated from using this cosmetic filler:

Children;

People who are nursing;

People who are pregnant;

People with hypertrophic scarring condition;

People who are allergic to hyaluronic acid and mannitol.

Thoroughly discuss potential side effects with your patients before you attempt to use this filler material on them. You may even conduct a skin allergy test to confirm its safety before administering the gel.

STYLAGE XL SIDE EFFECTS

Stylage XL is made synthetically from medical-grade hyaluronic acid gel. The risks of foreign-body reactions and disease transmissions are extremely low. Not only that, integration of mannitol allows the mild reactions to quickly subside.

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS:

Transient erythema (redness)

Swelling

Pain

SEVERE OR SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS:

Discolouration

Intense tenderness

The side effects are byproducts of the body’s skin-repairing process. Patients will usually recover from these inflammatory reactions within a couple of days. However, inform patients to seek medical attention immediately if the reactions last for more than a few days.

WHAT IS IT MADE OF?

This is medical device of non-animal origin. Hyaluronic acid is derived using a biofermentation process and is then treated with patented IPN-Like Technology. Consequently, the gel is highly cross-linked and intertwined resulting in a flexible yet malleable material. Mannitol molecules have also been integrated into the hyaluronic acid gel to promote healthy skin structure and gel durability.
