Restylane Refyne 1ml (Emervel Classic) filler.

WHAT IS RESTYLANE REFYNE?

Restylane Refyne is a dermal filler designed to correct mild to deep lines around the mouth, particularly nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Designed with XpresHAN Technology to soften lines associated with aging, the cross-linked hyaluronic acid-based filler rejuvenates the skin while maintaining a natural look and allowing a full range of expression. Restylane Refyne, formerly known as Emervel Classic, is manufactured by Galderma and is a soft, colourless gel of non-animal origin designed for safe and long-lasting results. This injectable dermal filler also contains lidocaine hydrochloride to ensure comfort and reduce pain during treatment.

WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Doctors use this cosmetic filler for facial correction of mid-to-deep facial lines and wrinkles caused by lost elasticity. By treating nasolabial folds—the lines that run from the sides of the nose toward the mouth—and marionette lines—the lines that run from the corner of the mouth down toward the chin—this specially formulated filler aims to offer comprehensive facial rejuvenation targeting the mouth area. Restylane Refyne helps add volume and fills lines and wrinkles to restore the skin’s youthful appearance and support the patient’s natural expressiveness.

HOW DOES THIS DERMAL FILLER WORK?

Restylane Refyne is administered via mid-to-deep injections into the facial tissue allowing the unique cross-linking technology of the specially designed hyaluronic acid to restore the skin’s youthful properties. This facial filler contains particles of varying sizes to fill different layers of the skin for a superior overall result. Larger particles add volume while smaller particles fill in small lines or wrinkles in the superficial layers of the dermis, resulting in a natural, less rigid look to the treated area. Hyaluronic acid is injected to restore the skin’s natural stores, which deplete over time as the skin ages. The cross-linking technology of this dermal filler is designed to maintain natural expression, allowing for natural movement and an overall radiant result.

HOW TO INJECT?

As with all similar procedures, Restylane Refyne should only be injected by experienced practitioners, and the patient’s medical history should be obtained. Inform all patients of the side effects and possible reactions to treatment. Thoroughly wash the treatment area with soap and water, and apply alcohol or another antiseptic to the injection area. Use a 30G hypodermic needle. The depth of injection and technique used will vary based on the severity of the correction, though a retrograde linear threading technique, or serial puncture injections, or a combination of these two techniques are typically used for optimal results. The manufacturer cautions against injecting the filler too superficially, as this may result in lumps and/or discolouration. Even pressure should be applied to the syringe while the needle is slowly pulled backward during injection, though the injection should be halted entirely before the needle is removed from the skin to prevent superficial filling or leaking of material. The manufacturer recommends injecting about 1.5mL per injection site for optimal correction of moderate to severe nasolabial folds. To ensure the filler is evenly distributed, gently massage the treatment area once injection is completed.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

While effects vary by person, the average duration is about 6 to 9 months. In clinical studies, over 90% of patients were satisfied with their results 3 months after treatment, and almost 80% reported that they maintained great results after 6 months. After 12 months, 62.3% of patients participating in the study still saw results. However, as hyaluronic acid is a natural substance the body naturally metabolizes this face filler, so results can depend on the age and lifestyle of the individual.

IS THIS PRODUCT SAFE?

Restylane Refyne is fully biodegradable and made of materials that are completely compatible with the human body.
