WHAT IS ALIDYA?

Alidya is an injectable antilipodystrophic agent patented by Dr. Pasquale Motolese, and is sometimes referred to as 2nd Motolese’s Solution. According to the manufacturer, this is the first injectable ever to focus solely on correcting gynoid lipodystrophy, or cellulite, and other skin issues associated with cellulite. Made by Ghimas S.p.A., each package contains 5 vials with 340mg of powder, and 5 vials with 10mL of solvent.

WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

This agent is used on areas of the body that are developing cellulite, including the buttocks, thighs, stomach, and shoulders, to reduce its appearance and prevent it from further developing. Alidya is perfect for patients who are noticing the first signs of cellulite development and are looking to reduce cellulite, smooth the overall appearance of the skin, and reconstruct volume and enhance skin tension in areas affected by cellulite. Other than in the treatment of cellulite, this injectable solution is also indicated for use in post-liposuction treatment to correct the appearance of the skin, as well as in post-intralipotherapy treatment to correct changes to the adipose tissue.

HOW DOES THIS AGENT WORK?

Cellulite is thought to be related primarily to poor circulation, which decreases blood flow through the small blood vessels in the skin and causes toxins to form in the tissue. During this process, metal ions that can be toxic to the cells are deposited. With a combination of amino acids and other ingredients, Alidya is able to minimize the appearance of cellulite by correcting the issues at work. Through injection, the product removes or neutralizes toxic elements that cause the fat cells to swell, while simultaneously working to rebalance skin cells, restore oxygen to the tissue, and restructure the underlying adipose tissue in the treatment area. By correcting these underlying issues, the skin in the treated area appears smoother, and depressions and irregular skin are reduced. Treatment with this product essentially prompts important functions in the tissues, and this improved functionality will help to impede the further development of cellulite.

HOW TO INJECT?

Alidya should only be administered by a licensed professional. The amount of injections administered will vary depending on the area being treated and the severity of the cellulite, though a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 12 sessions performed weekly is recommended. Prior to injection, the treatment area should first be disinfected. Use a sterile syringe to transfer the solution from 1 vial into the vial containing the powder. Shake the mixture for a few second and allow the mixed solution to turn into a clear pinkish colour. This solution will have a distinct odour. Inject with a 30Gx4mm needle. After disinfection and mixing, inject Alidya into the deep dermal layer or subcutaneous layer of the treatment area using the mesotherapy method, which may also be referred to as a localised intradermotherapy method. Injections should be applied using a 0.2 to 0.3mL micro-bolus into the subcutaneous skin. To ensure best results, massage the treatment area to improve lymphatic or pneumatic drainage.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

The duration of the results will vary by patient and treatment area. Once the initial weekly treatments are complete, Alidya injections should be administered once a year to maintain the effect. The amount of initial treatment sessions as well as the longevity of the results will depend on the area being treated as well as the severity of the cellulite, and results may last longer or shorter depending on the patient’s age and lifestyle.

IS THIS PRODUCTS SAFE?

Alidya is a non-surgical, minimally invasive, and safe procedure for reducing the appearance of cellulite. However, there may be a risk of infection. There is little recovery or downtime required as the procedure is so simple, though it is recommended that the patient avoid using any cosmetic product on the treatment area for 10-12 hours after the treatment session. Patients should also avoid any rigorous physical activities such as swimming, exercising, or going to the gym, and should also avoid direct heat exposure such as that caused by sunbathing or sauna use for a few days following the procedure.
